Tuesday was Valentine’s Day! Did you do something special that day? We decided to just stay home and have a comfy junkfood night 😉 I had class until 7 pm, so my boyfriend got in the kitchen and prepared these AMAZING vegan pizzas! The love I tasted that night was mind-blowing 😉
Have you ever had a decent vegan pizza yet? We got one from a vegan store a while ago, but it was quite disappointing, quite expensive and not that tasty at all. Let’s say this philosophy still counts: what you do yourself, you do better 😉 So if you’ve experience the same disappointing pizza-situation before, then there’s only one thing to do: try this recipe out and simply be amazed! You’ll never want another pizza ever again 😉
Confession: as we like food and celebrating everything we can way to much, we decided to have two Valentine dinners in a row. On Wednesday I prepared vegan sushi to celebrate our second Valentine’s Day together and keep the tradition alive (we celebrated our first Valentine with making homemade sushi for the first time). I must say, I honestly keep getting better and better at making these Japanese gifts from heaven 😉 You can check the recipe for our homemade sushi out over here!
Edit (5 May 2017): Today we made these delicious pizzas again, using different toppings this time! You can check out the pictures below, but I think it’s clear that when I say I put my homemade pesto on it, there’s no need to explain that it was amaaazinnnggg 😉 We also added garlic and extra herbs to the cheesy crust, which was heavenly good! And the oyster mushrooms as a topping? Fantastic! Are you craving pizza already? Then my job is done 😉 Enjoy!
- What do you need? (2 pizzas)
– 2 vegan pizza bases (ready to use, or make the dough yourself)
– 1 can of peeled tomatoes (400g)
– 1 or 2 gloves of garlic
– 1 onion
– 1/2 teaspoon oregano or Italian herbs
– Olive oil
– Salt and pepper
– 1 bag of vegan pizza cheese (Wilmersburger)
– 1 roll of Mozzarisella (vegan mozzarella)
– Pizza toppings to your choice (mushrooms, bell peppers, pineapple, pesto, cheese,…)
- How do you make it?
Chop the garlic and the onion into pieces. Heat some olive oil in a pan and add the onion and garlic. Bake for about three minutes and make sure they don’t turn brown. Add the peeled tomatoes and the oregano or Italian herbs. Let it simmer for about twenty minutes, but don’t forget to stir it through from time to time. You’ll notice the sauce will start to thicken. Mix it until most of the chunks are gone. Finish off with salt and pepper to your liking.Take the pizza bases out of the fridge and let them rest for a couple minutes. Roll them out and put some of the grated pizza cheese on the border. Roll the border up so you create a crust with cheese in it (see picture). Put the sauce on the base and cover with toppings to your choice. Finish off with pieces of Mozzarisella and the grated pizza cheese. Preheat the oven at 200 degrees (Celsius). Put the pizzas in the oven for at least fifteen minutes. Caution: the time and degrees depend on the type of base and oven you use, so make sure to check the instruction on the package.
Cut the pizzas into four to eight pieces, settle yourself on the couch and be amazed by the great taste of this delicious meal. Enjoy a great movie-pizza night! 😉
